Ask what changed after testing
Look for a case showing the original problem, a user test and the change made as a result.
Involve the developers
Agree how designers and developers will review functions, content and screen behaviour together.
Prepare the brief
Send product goals and problems reported by users. State which deliverables you need: journeys, prototypes and interfaces.
Ask the studio: “Can you have a user try the main journey and show which changes follow from the test?” Agree on a prototype of the main journey before completing the work.
How to read the estimate

Is user research always necessary?
The evidence should match the risk. It may come from field research, interviews, analytics or focused tests. Skipping it entirely means designing around the team’s assumptions.
Are UX/UI and product design equivalent?
UX/UI often describes research, flows and interface. Product design also includes product goals, priorities, technical collaboration and lifecycle decisions. Boundaries vary between studios.
What should be delivered?
Prototypes, specifications, components, content and decisions should be sufficient for development. Format matters less than continuity between design and implementation.
